Wishin for the best

So i decided to start using sunless tanner for many reasons
1) dont have to sit in a hot tanning bed
2) dont have to actually go to the tanning bed
3) no cancer risk
4) its just so much easier and faster

So the first time i used it, i was darker in some places than in others and it looked medicore at best. So i used it again, and it stained my hands really bad. So pretty much, everytime i use it something goes wrong, and yet i keep using it.
Moral of the Story: People always hope for the best, even when they keep trying it fails everytime. Hope is a beautiful thing

Mother Nature and Society

I received an email from my step-grandfather about all of the flooding and disaster that happened in Iowa in 2008. Granted, it was 2 years ago. But what bugged me was that no one really knew about it, and i didnt even know until two years later when the damage has been done. Because Iowa isnt exactly inhabited like New York or New Orleans and because its not necessarily "needed" for the survival of America, no one really cared enough to get involved. Where was Bono and Fergie to help raise funds to deal with the massive amounts of damage and lives lost? I think it kinda stinks that bigger, more popular cities get tons of attention when a small tornado hits, but when a regular town gets hit with 7 feet of nasty water, its nothing to get excited about.

I guess the VIPs really do get it all.

Russian Adoption

Im pro adoption all the way. I think its awesome that infertile families can experience the love and joy a child can bring into their lives. Im actually writing a 11 minute speech about the option of adoption over abortion, and how little information is given to parents who are not ready to raise a child. But i heard of a story on the news a few weeks ago about some woman in the tri-state area who adopted a child from Russia, and turns out he was a demon child. Maybe not literally, but he threatened to kill her and catch the house on fire and a whole slew of criminal behavior, even though he was still a child below the double digit range. It reminds me that alot of behavior is actually biological, and that alot of orphans are the result of a mother who did drugs while pregnant. You cant really know for sure what child is right for you or if they will turn out to be the complete opposite of what you thought. I guess faith is the only thing you can hold on to in those types of situations

High school marriage

Having friends is probably the most complicated thing ever, especially in high school and college. Some girls in high school are very competitive and not real friends when it comes down to it. They will often take a boys advice and abandon a friend they've had for, say 7 years. Its crazy how serious high schoolers are now about relationships, theys swear they are going to marry every single guy they date. YOURE 18!!! OR YOUNGER! you have the rest of your life to find that special someone or at least wait to see if your sweetheart will stay true long enough to marry. Im not saying no one finds the love of their life in high school, but seriously wait a little while to make sure hes the one, or the guy you want to be with FORVERRRRRRR. And kids having babies just to keep the guy around....thats the worst thing ive ever heard and i feel sorry for them.

Weddings

Woke up, fell out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup,
And looking up I noticed I was late.
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
and Somebody spoke and I went into a dream

Sorry, i sing that everytime i log into this

So. Weddings. It seems to me like girls want a wedding rather than a marriage. Hopefully, i wont be that way but i still have awhile to see. And the main thing about weddings is, they are expensive. Outrageously expensive. Couples save for years just to "buy" their wedding, and then spend the next few years paying it off. For what, a day? I agree, the day is suppose to be special and perfect and the happiest day of your life, but why waste all that money? My parents for example. My dad married my stepmom July 4th of last year. So first off, high rates for the holiday when they rented the place. And now, theyre like "we cant afford groceries or the doctor and we can barely pay bills and we arent giving you money for college..." and the list goes on, because they are paying off their wedding. Dont you think you should just NOT have a wedding if you dont have enough money for everyday things like food. Or at least put it off for awhile.

Public breastfeeding?

Ok, sitting at a restaurant trying to enjoy your food and seeing a woman openly breastfeeding is super weird. We created clothes for a reason, so we could cover that stuff up. Moms will argue that its just part of nature and people have been doing it for years and its not that big of a deal....until they have to watch another mom in public while they go about their business. I will agree, that its not very courteous to do in a public place in the wide open, BUT i believe if mothers use some sort of covering (like the one Pam used in last weeks the Office) that its fine. Babies need to eat and if you are stricly breastfeeding and forgot to bring a little extra in a bottle, then at least cover yourself up. I know ive blogged about this before in a different context (dont breastfeed your dog or 8 year old, thats over the line) but i felt the need to blog some more because its still a big issue.

Money

I think its odd that our economy isnt at a "good" point here, and yet there are more and more game shows everyday. What if we took all the money from the game shows......and put it toward helping out the world? It just doesnt make sense to me that there are starving, dying people in the world, but millions of dollars are being given to people who can guess a number between 1-10 or who happen to pick the right box. Ridiculous.

Banning

Whats the point in banning movies, books, pictures, shows....anything?
If it was offensive to the public or may be offensive to some....DONT BUY IT!
The whole "kids are violent now because they watch violent programming and play violent games" thing is ridiculous. Who LETS them play these games and watch these shows? Parents are to blame, not the media. Granted some things could be left out of movies, but the reason they were put it in there was to be recieved by a mature audience who can not be influenced by bad behavior. If you or your kids can not watch something without being badly influenced or have the nerve to do it yourself, then dont watch it. You can protect yourself and your loved ones from the media you think is wrong. Dont ruin it for everyone else who can handle it.

Snow Days

Everyone loves snow days....when they first happen. Now everyone is complaining about the snow they just were enjoying a week ago! All i have heard about is people waiting for it to stop snowing, it needs to go away, we will be in school until July, its a big pain. This is the first time it has really snowed since last year. Come on. Enjoy it. Theres so much you can get done in a snow day! For example
1) Sleep in! like you can go anywhere anyway
2) Clean! you saw the dust piling up and its secretly bothering you...
3) Do Homework! yes i know, snow day=no school=no homework. but think about next week when that massive project is due. you wont have to worry about it
4) Eat! well not alot, but you have time to cook up something awesome...like brownies =)
5) Go Sledding! that's how snow days have been spent for years and years.
6) Mess around on the computer! the internet has infinite possibilities, just dont get a virus...
7) Play video games! if you're into that
8) Read! a book you actually want to read, its good for the soul
9) Clean again! not really the usual cleaning, but look through your closet and bookshelves. anything there you don't use/want and would like to donate?
10) Spend some time with you're family! they love you, spend some time with them. it could turn out to be fun =)

And the list goes on and on....

So dont complain about the weather, it isn't going to change anything. Just enjoy it!

Change

The country is equally divided in half when it comes to accepting and fearing change. Some people love change, maybe even crave it and want a different outcome. Instead of eating the same bowl of cereal every morning, why not have oatmeal or go out to breakfast? The outcomes may not always be what you wanted, but people like this are just generally happy that something is different.
Then there are the people who hate it, fear it, or are just content with the way things are. They want to follow the same routine day after day because it works and why change what is already perfect?
Either way, i dont understand why both usually become violent on a national level. Countries everywhere are upset that someone is trying to change them, or that their overthrow of government isnt working and no one will come help. For the presidential election, some wanted to stay in Iraq and have a generic old man with experience, while others wanted to try out some new ideas and completely change history with a black president.
Regardless of the changes made on a day-to-day basis, its ridiculous that people get so upset over beliefs and values of other people and make it hard to coexist.

Paparazzi

What exactly is the point of the paparazzi? They are rarely hired by anyone to take awkward pictures of celebrities in public places just trying to live their lives. They MAY have five pictures bought from magazines or newspapers for hours of work for only $50 a picture. Why?! What kid wakes up and says " I want to be a paparazzi!!" If you have a love of photography....be a photographer! If you love to write, write about something important or helpful to mankind! I think there should be no paparazzi. Just because so and so didnt hold their kids hand while crossing the street, doesnt mean im not going to see their latest movie or buy their newest CD. Everyone makes mistakes, the paparazzi just blow it up to extremes to make us hate the people we once looked up to. Why wont these people do something better with their lives?

Getting ahead

Picture this. You work all weekend on homework, work, house work, etc. You cleaned your entire house, all the laundry is finished, you finished a 16 page article and wrote the essay that correlates, finished all your pre-destined homework for the week, and dont have to go back to your actual job until thursday. So your week is freed up right?
no.
Things always seem to come up as soon as you think youre getting ahead.
So whats the point of trying to finish up early? Why not procrastinate?!
I suppose the answer to this is to give a little breathing room between tasks and one less thing to worry about. But it is so very depressing when you try to get everything out of the way, and more gets piled on.
Life stinks.

Weird People

I was listening to the radio yesterday and heard about a lady, or should i say mother, in the UK that was breastfeeding both her baby( 2 yr old)...and her dog! She also says she "sometimes has a dog on one breast and the baby on the other." Why on earth would you even think about breastfeeding a animal?! Its not even that the dog is a puppy and in need of milk, its an adult dog. This correlates with the crazy twilight wife that is resentful of her vampires husbands neglect. What went wrong with these people? Blame the parents? Where do people create these crazy ideas and/or realities and why doesnt anyone help them?! Even better is when you type in "woman breatfeeding" in google, instead of purely medical and baby-related suggestions, it comes up with things like "breastfeeding a cat, an 8 year old, etc.." Why does society let these things happen? Humans arent meant to breastfeed anything but newborn infants. Some people shouldnt be parents let alone allowed to live in public. No offense, but you know its true.

Man vs. Woman

About a week ago i stopped by Walmarts auto center to get a quote for a tire rotation and balance. I was greeted by a scruffy, sterotypical mechanic who looked at me like i was a stupid blonde teenager and didnt need any specific attention. When I asked about the quote, he pointed up on the board where the prices were. I apologized for not being observant and then asked how long it would take to actually do the work and how long the wait was. He simply responded depends.
I said "ok....what depends?"
"both."
"...ok... how long would it take right now?"
"i dont know, a couple hours"
"ok...thanks..."
So i left and went elsewhere to hopefully find a better mannered person to deal with.
Luckily the shell station across the street did it in 10 minutes.
Today, i had a flat tire and needed either a repair or a new tire. I called my step mother who said she would call walmart and see what they could do. Fortunately, they said they could get me in a.s.a.p and i would still have time to get to school. I also found out i had a spare.
Since i drove on the tire over there, they couldnt do anything. But i was helped by a woman this time, who was very well mannered and helped me with everything.
Point is: Women are much better suited to work and deal with in society. Thats why there are much more waitresses than waitors, and why you always seem to deal with women when it comes to customer service. They are always just so much more pleasant!!!
